Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Coordinator to support the Cardiac Surgery team. This role acts as a liaison for patients, coordinating care, gathering essential registration and insurance information, and arranging pre-admission activities.

The coordinator communicates between patients, physicians, and scheduling staff, ensures referrals are in place, and helps fill ambulatory clinic sessions. Strong organizational and confidentiality skills are required.

Qualifications

• MS Office proficiency required.
• Experience scheduling procedures and managing patient flow.
• Strong communication and coordination with multiple departments.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist visitors, patients and staff professionally.
• Handle telephone inquiries and direct to appropriate personnel.
• Collect and enter patient registration data for reimbursement.
• Obtain referrals and coordinate with insurers for services.
• Maintain patient records and manage electronic documentation.
• Schedule procedures and manage operating room calendars.
• Ensure medical necessity screening is completed before scheduling.
• Prepare and distribute reports and manage office supplies.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
