We are seeking a passionate, culturally aware, and student-centered Part-Time Art Appreciation Instructor to join our academic team. The instructor will facilitate critical reflection on art using curated keywords and prompts, exploring the roles of the artwork, artist, audience, institution, and value. Through discussions, art analysis, research, and creative activities, the instructor will guide students in developing their perspectives on art and its cultural, social, and contemporary contexts. The course culminates in students conceptualizing and creating their own artwork and documenting their creative process through a process book.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Multimedia Arts, Art Education, Art History, Cultural Studies, Humanities, or a related field
With teaching, research, or industry experience in art, visual arts, multimedia arts, art education, or related creative fields
Strong understanding of art appreciation, contemporary art, visual culture, and artistic practices
Ability to critically discuss different aspects of art, including the artwork, artist, audience, institution, and value
Knowledge of Philippine art and contemporary artistic practices is an advantage
Ability to facilitate critical discussions and encourage diverse perspectives on art and creative expression
Experience guiding students through creative projects, artistic processes, or portfolio development
Passion for mentoring college students and developing their critical thinking, visual literacy, creativity, and appreciation of art
Facilitate lectures and discussions that encourage critical reflection and appreciation of art using curated keywords and prompts
Introduce students to different perspectives and approaches to understanding art, including the roles of the artwork, artist, audience, institution, and value
Guide students in analyzing and interpreting artworks within their cultural, social, historical, and contemporary contexts
Encourage students to articulate their own perspectives and engage in meaningful discussions about art and creative expression
Develop engaging learning experiences through lectures, visual analysis, discussions, research activities, creative exercises, and collaborative projects
Guide students in conceptualizing and developing their own artwork based on ideas explored throughout the course
Provide feedback and mentorship throughout the students' creative and artistic process
Guide students in documenting and reflecting on their creative process through a process book
Encourage experimentation, critical thinking, creativity, and reflection throughout the development of students' artworks
Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and learner-centered classroom environment that encourages students to engage critically and creatively with art
