Job summary

Siemens Energy is seeking an Operations Technician to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient power plant operation through continuous monitoring, troubleshooting, and adherence to procedures. You will work with the O&M team to maintain plant performance and respond to incidents.

The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and at least 1 year of experience in power plant operations, ideally in a Combined Cycle plant, with strong knowledge of turbines, pumps, and electrical systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with at least 1 year of power plant operations experience.
• Licensed Engineer preferred.
• Strong knowledge of turbines, pumps, valves, boilers, generators, and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate plant units under normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions in compliance with procedures.
• Execute scheduled shift activities and maintain operation logs and check sheets.
• Raise fault notifications and support diagnostics with maintenance teams.
• Follow Permit-to-Work processes and ensure safety before maintenance or operations.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferably Licensed Engineer) with at least 1 year of experience in power plant operations, ideally within a Combined Cycle Power Plant.
• Strong knowledge of turbines, pumps, valves, boilers, generators, and electrical systems including switchgear and circuit breakers.
• Hands-on experience with SCADA, DCS, or PLC systems, with the ability to monitor and optimize plant performance.
• Proven troubleshooting skills with the ability to interpret electrical schematics and analyze system faults.
• High attention to detail, strong communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in shift-based team environments.
• Strong safety mindset with familiarity in permit-to-work systems and commitment to continuous learning and compliance.

Plant Operations & Monitoring (40%)

• Operate plant units under various conditions (normal, abnormal, emergency) in compliance with procedures.
• Execute scheduled shift activities and ensure completion of operational documentation.
• Maintain accurate and timely reporting through operations check sheets and logs.

Equipment Fault Detection & Troubleshooting (40%)

• Continuously monitor plant systems and report abnormal performance.
• Raise fault notifications and initiate corrective actions.
• Assist maintenance teams in diagnostics and troubleshooting activities.

Personnel and Plant Safety (20%)

• Implement Permit-to-Work processes, including isolation and normalization procedures.
• Ensure all safety precautions are in place prior to maintenance or operational work.
• Participate in safety trainings and respond to emergency situations in line with site protocols.
