Job summary

INVESTCO BHPI is seeking an Operations Technician to support the safe, reliable operation of a hydropower plant in the Philippines. You will monitor equipment, perform inspections, assist with startups/shutdowns, and respond to issues to ensure continuous power generation.

You will also perform basic maintenance, keep accurate records, and collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure safety, environmental, and regulatory standards are met.

Qualifications

• Related course or equivalent work experience.
• COSH Training is an advantage.
• TESDA Training and/or Certificates are an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor turbines, generators, auxiliary systems and local control panels.
• Record hourly/daily plant parameters such as flow, head and power output.
• Maintain safe and efficient operation of plant equipment.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance: lubrication, cleaning, filter replacement, minor repairs.
• Assist testing, troubleshooting and calibration of sensors, relays and control systems.
• Support equipment reliability and operational readiness.
• Follow safety procedures, PPE use and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
• Maintain compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
• Keep accurate operational and maintenance records.
• Manage plant tools, safety equipment and spare parts inventory.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of plant and work areas.
• Help secure plant equipment and facilities.

About the Role:

In this role, you will monitor plant equipment, perform routine inspections, assist with startup and shutdown activities, and respond to operational issues to help ensure continuous power generation.

You will also carry out basic maintenance tasks, maintain accurate operational records, and work closely with the operations and maintenance teams to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operate and monitor turbines, generators, auxiliary systems, and local control panels.
2. Monitor plant performance and record hourly/daily operational parameters such as flow rate, head, and power output.
3. Ensure the safe and efficient operation of plant equipment.
4. Perform routine preventive maintenance, including lubrication, cleaning, filter replacement, and minor component repairs.
5. Assist in testing, troubleshooting, and calibration of sensors, relays, and control systems.
6. Support equipment reliability and operational readiness.
7. Follow all plant safety procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
8. Maintain compliance with company policies and applicable safety regulations.
9. Maintain accurate operational and maintenance records.
10. Assist in managing plant tools, safety equipment, and spare parts inventory.
11. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the plant and work areas.
12. Help ensure the security and protection of plant equipment and facilities.

Qualifications:

• Related course or equivalent work experience Experience required in operation of a hydroelectric power plant is an advantage, but not required.
• Relevant training in hydroelectric power plant operation is an advantage, but not required. Construction Occupational Safety and Health (COSH) Training.
• Competencies Relevant TESDA Training and/or Certificates.
