Job summary

SMEC is seeking a capable Project Management/Procurement professional to support opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region. The role involves coordinating with subcontractors and JV partners, managing proposal preparation and pricing, and ensuring QA and BMS compliance across project delivery.

The candidate will work with Project Directors and RM- Asia, assisting in setup of new regional projects and maintaining schedules, margins and invoicing while collaborating with global teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or a relevant field.
  • Minimum three years of experience in project management, procurement or business development.
  • Experience in multinational engineering industry is an advantage.
  • Strong written and spoken English communications.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and reporting tools.
  • Ability to plan for and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Willingness to continue building skills through educational opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support Pacific opportunities, including setup, liaison with subcontractors and JV partners, preparation of admin and BMS compliance requirements, CV formatting, proposal quality checks, and submission support.
  • Monitor opportunities from IFI, local client websites, and other portals regularly.
  • Understand SMEC's standard proposal pricing approach.
  • Assist RM- ASIA Project Implementation Phase 1 with related duties.
  • Review project reports for QA and BMS compliance; ensure formats meet standards.
  • Assist in delivering projects to achieve margins, minimize WIP and ensure invoicing is up to date.
  • Assist in setting up new regional projects including housing, travel, logistics.
  • Support project audits and review of inputs/outputs.
  • Coordinate meetings with clients and stakeholders and facilitate information transfer.
  • Proficiency with the company's financial systems and processes.
  • Assist in preparation of contracts and JV/sub consultancy agreements with partners.

About the Job Responsibilities:
  1. Opportunity/Pursuits phase 1. Provide coordination support for assigned Pacific opportunities, including opportunity setup, liaison with subcontractors and JV partners, preparation of administrative and BMS compliance requirements, CV formatting, proposal quality checks, and submission support.
  2. 2. Monitor and identify current opportunities from IFI, local client websites, and other opportunity portals on a regular basis.
  3. 3.Should have a good understanding of SMEC's standard proposal pricing approach.
  4. 4. Any other relevant duties assigned by the RM- ASIA Project Implementation Phase 1.
  1. Review project reports and ensure formats are in accordance with SMEC Business Management System (BMS), Quality Assurance (QA) procedures and appropriate technical standards.
  2. 2. Assist and work closely with the Project Directors, Project Managers and Coordinators on to ensure successful delivery of projects including achieving the target contribution margins, minimal WIP and Debtors and invoicing are up to date.
  3. 3. May assist in setting up new projects in this region in consultation with the Regional and Functional Manager. This may include, but not limited to, physical arrangement with respect to housing, accommodation, travel of staff, logistics, office equipment, etc.
  4. 4. Assist Project Managers in project audits and review of project inputs and outputs.
  5. 5. Coordinate and may attend relevant meetings with clients, stakeholders, contractors and project teams and facilitate the transfer of information required for various aspects of projects, when necessary.
  6. 6. Proficiency with the company's financial systems, processes, and procedures.
  7. 7. Assist in the preparation or review of all contracts with staff working in the SEA & Pacific regional projects.
  8. 8. Support other Project Managers in preparation of sub consultancy and joint-venture agreements as may be applicable with associates and JV partners. Collaborate with appropriate team members, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and co-ordination of project deliverables.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, or relevant field
  • Minimum three years of experience in Project Management/Procurement and/or Business Development
  • Experience in Multinational Engineering industry is an advantage
  • High level communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Ability to write effectively in English to furnish reports and to prepare business development materials including proposals.
  • Ability to plan for and keep track of multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Willingness to continue building skills through educational opportunities.
