About the role:
The Logistics Coordinator (Ocean Import) supports Ocean Import operations by performing specialized, task-based activities that ensure the accurate, timely, and compliant movement of international shipments. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage high-volume tasks, and flexibility to support multiple operational functions through cross-training.
What You Will Be Doing:
Perform assigned Ocean Import operational tasks while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Update and maintain shipment milestones, including ETA, ETD, vessel schedules, and other critical shipment information.
Prepare, review, and distribute Arrival Notices to customers and stakeholders within established service level agreements (SLAs).
Coordinate carrier payment activities by validating invoices, freight charges, and payment requirements.
Monitor shipments undergoing customs examinations and coordinate updates with internal teams, carriers, and external stakeholders. Process shipment diversion requests and coordinate operational changes while ensuring timely execution.
Support regulatory compliance activities related to international ocean freight documentation and operational requirements.
Maintain accurate shipment records and documentation within Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and other operational platforms.
Monitor shipment status and proactively communicate operational updates, delays, or exceptions to internal teams and customers.
Meet daily productivity, quality, and service level targets.
Support multiple Ocean Import functions through cross-training.
Collaborate with Operations, Customer Service, Accounting, Compliance, and other internal departments to ensure seamless shipment execution.
Required Skills & Experience (To excel in this role, you should possess):
High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
1–3 years of experience in Freight Forwarding, International Logistics, Ocean Import, Ocean Export, Supply Chain, or Transportation Operations preferred.
General understanding of Ocean Import processes, shipment documentation, and international freight operations.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to process high volumes of operational transactions accurately.
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to work effectively under pressure while meeting strict deadlines and service level agreements.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Ability to quickly learn new systems, operational processes, and standard operating procedures.
Nice to Have:
Experience using CargoWise or other Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
Experience supporting Ocean Import or Ocean Export operations within a freight forwarding environment.
Familiarity with shipment milestone management, Arrival Notices, carrier payments, customs examinations, or shipment diversions.
Knowledge of international shipping documentation and customs processes.
