Job summary

RELX in Manila is seeking a senior leader to supervise the Cloud Observability Engineering and ServiceNow teams, setting priorities and guiding delivery. You will recruit, coach, and develop staff while serving as the primary escalation point for both teams.

You will oversee observability platforms (Coralogix, Quickwit, CloudWatch), ensure standardized telemetry with OpenTelemetry, and manage traces, logs, and metrics. Collaboration with engineering, SRE, and ITSM teams is essential to success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience supervising or leading a technical team (observability, SRE, platform engineering, or ITSM).
• Solid knowledge of observability fundamentals: metrics, traces, logs, and context propagation.
• Strong cloud technology understanding.
• Familiarity with Coralogix, Quickwit, CloudWatch (or Datadog, Grafana, Splunk).
• Knowledge of OpenTelemetry concepts and instrumentation.
• Understanding of containerization and Kubernetes at an engineering level.
• Awareness of cardinality impacts on telemetry systems, cost and performance.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow administration/development concepts.
• Strong communication, prioritization, and stakeholder-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage the Cloud Observability Engineering team and the ServiceNow Administration/Development team, setting priorities and assigning work.
• Recruit, onboard, coach, and develop team members; conduct performance reviews and support career growth.
• Act as the primary escalation point for both teams, removing blockers and ensuring timely delivery of initiatives.
• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing across both disciplines.
• Oversee the strategy, design, and operation of observability platforms, including Coralogix, Quickwit, and CloudWatch.
• Ensure consistent instrumentation and quality of metrics, traces, and logs; guide OpenTelemetry usage.
• Guide context propagation and baggage to support accurate distributed tracing.
• Oversee telemetry cost management through cardinality controls.
• Ensure observability practices extend across cloud, container, and Kubernetes environments.
• Partner with engineering, SRE, and platform teams to define alerting standards, dashboards, and SLO/SLA frameworks.
• Oversee administration and development on the ServiceNow platform (ITSM/ITOM, integrations).
• Coordinate governance, upgrade planning, and change control on the ServiceNow platform.
• Align requirements with business stakeholders and translate into platform capabilities.
• Represent teams in planning, budgeting, roadmaps, and vendor discussions.
• Report on team performance, platform health, and initiatives to leadership.
• Collaborate with adjacent teams to align priorities.
