Job summary

The World Health Organization Philippines Country Office in Manila seeks a National Consultant for Neglected Tropical Diseases to strengthen national capacity for management, prevention and elimination of priority NTDs across the Philippines, on an 11-month external contract.

You will provide technical support, coordinate with DOH and partners, contribute to roadmaps and M&E, and help implement One Health–based strategies to accelerate NTD elimination.

Qualifications

• Essential: University degree in science or medicine with postgraduate master in public health, tropical medicine, epidemiology, medical parasitology or entomology.
• Minimum of seven years of experience in public health disease control programme activities including at least three years of vector-borne diseases control and/or research at international level.
• Thorough knowledge of tropical diseases and their control/elimination; skills in health situation analysis, programme management and evaluation; ability to travel and work in remote field conditions.
• Essential: Expert knowledge of English and Tagalog; working knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational and technical support to strengthen regional and country capacities for management, prevention, control and elimination of priority NTDs.
• Support development of national roadmaps and deliverables aligned with global and national strategies.
• Coordinate with DOH and partners and contribute to cross-sectoral One Health approaches.
