Job summary

The Boston Public Art Triennial is seeking a detail-oriented Controller to lead the finance function. You will oversee day-to-day accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and audit coordination in a hybrid Boston-based role.

Ideal candidates have nonprofit accounting experience, proficiency with QuickBooks, Bill.com, Excel, and Google Workspace, and a CPA is preferred but not required. Three days in-office, two remote days each week.

Qualifications

• Experience in nonprofit accounting and financial management.
• Budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting experience.
• CPA certification preferred but not required.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks, Bill.com, Excel, and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting functions including AP, AR, GL, journal entries, close, reconciliations, payroll coordination, and banking.
• Lead multi-year operating budget development and tracking (approx. $3M–$5M annually) with quarterly forecasting and budget-to-actual analysis.
• Prepare financial statements and reports for leadership, Finance Committee, and Board.
• Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors; prepare audit schedules.
