Qualifications

  • Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics; diagnose problems with testing equipment.
  • Follow safety procedures including lockout/tagout (LOTO).

Job description

Motor Rewinder are responsible for the in service, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs of AC/DC motors, and related equipment. They perform reconditioning, general repairs rewinding and component replacement, as well testing and troubleshooting using tools like insulation meters and multimeters to ensure operational efficiency.


Key skills include reading schematics, electrical testing, and mechanical repair.


Technicians conduct thorough inspections and analyses of electrical motors and equipment. They are tasked with running diagnostic tests, interpreting results, and identifying the root causes of faults or failures. Based on findings, recommendations are made for repair or replacement of faulty components. Technicians must be adept at reading and interpreting electrical schematics, identifying system components and their functions, and producing detailed reports and parts specifications.


A strong understanding of the hazards associated with 440/380v 3 phase multiple speed motors up to 250KW and medium voltage electrical systems is required. Technicians must demonstrate correct handling and identification of motor components and be familiar with system protection practices, including thermistors, space heaters and safety controls including standard lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.


For repair and safety-related concerns, Electrical Motor Technicians are expected to consult with the Electrical Specialist. This includes preparing appropriate documentation, making parts recommendations, and ensuring that all activities and repairs are properly recorded.


Qualifications:

Education: At least a Diploma or Vocational Training in a related field


Vocational: Examples - Specialized courses in motor operation (e.g., fractional horsepower, AC/DC). Industrial/Marine Electrical Training,


Electrical Safety (Lockout/Tagout) or TESDA NC II in the Philippines


Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in servicing and maintaining electrical systems and equipment


Maintenance & Repair: Disassemble, repair, and reassemble motors, including cleaning, greasing, and replacing parts.


Troubleshooting: Diagnose problems in motors, transformers, and switchgears using specialized testing equipment.


Rewinding: Re-wind motor coils to restore functionality.


Installation: Install, wire, and test new motors, switches, and electrical components.


Technical Knowledge: Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.


Safety Compliance: Follow strict safety procedures when handling high-voltage equipment.
