Job summary

A7 Recruitment Corporation is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to design, maintain and enhance COBOL-based systems in a banking environment. You will work on z/OS with JCL, DB2, VSAM and CICS.

Collaborating with analysts and QA, you will review code, mentor junior developers and stay current with mainframe trends. 3–8 years of mainframe experience and a BS in CS/IT are preferred. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 3-8 years of experience in mainframe development.
• Strong knowledge of COBOL, Assembler, JCL, CICS, DB2, and other mainframe programming languages and tools.
• Experience with z/OS, IMS, and VSAM.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Experience in banking industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and enhance mainframe applications and systems using COBOL, Assembler, JCL, CICS, DB2, and other programming languages and tools
• Design and implement solutions that meet business requirements and technical specifications
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior developers
• Collaborate with other teams, including business analysts, quality assurance, and project management, to ensure successful project delivery
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment activities
• Identify and resolve technical issues and bugs in a timely manner
• Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in mainframe development
