About the role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Metalwork Draftsperson to join our European client's team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing accurate 3D models, technical drawings, and fabrication documentation for custom metalwork, architectural elements, and bespoke structures. This role requires a strong understanding of metal fabrication and manufacturing processes, excellent technical detailing skills, and the ability to translate design concepts into precise, production-ready drawings. Experience with Rhino 3D is highly regarded.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D models and technical drawings for custom metal structures, railings, architectural metalwork, and associated components.
• Prepare fabrication and shop drawings, including dimensions, material specifications, cutting lists, welding details, and assembly instructions.
• Produce exploded views, component details, and production files to support manufacturing and installation.
• Interpret design concepts, sketches, architectural plans, and project specifications to create accurate technical documentation.
• Collaborate with designers, engineers, fabricators, and project stakeholders to ensure drawings meet design intent and manufacturing requirements.
• Ensure all drawings and models are accurate, consistent, and suitable for fabrication and assembly.
• Revise drawings based on design changes, site measurements, and production feedback.
• Maintain organized drawing files, documentation, and project records.
• Identify potential fabrication challenges and recommend practical solutions to improve manufacturability and minimize material waste.

About you

• Proven experience as a Metalwork Draftsperson, Mechanical Draftsperson, CAD Draftsperson, or in a similar fabrication-related role.
• Strong understanding of metalworking, fabrication techniques, and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling and technical drafting software; experience with Rhino 3D is preferred.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, architectural plans, and design specifications.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication detailing, including material thicknesses, dimensions, cutting requirements, welding details, and assembly methods.
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and spatial awareness.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple drawings and project deadlines.
• Good communication and collaboration skills when working with design and production teams.
• A practical, solution-oriented approach to technical challenges.
• Experience in custom metalwork, architectural metal fabrication, railings, screens, cladding, or bespoke structural components.
