Staff X - Offshore Staffing is seeking a Mechanical Designer/Drafter to translate customer concepts into production-ready 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings using SolidWorks.

This full-time remote role sits in a lean engineering team that builds waste and materials handling equipment. You own the documentation pipeline—BOMs, revisions, and PDM—and work with autonomy, reporting directly to the Lead Mechanical Engineer on project deliverables.

Qualifications

• Advanced SolidWorks proficiency.
• Minimum four years of hands-on mechanical design and drafting experience.
• Industry background in materials handling, wet processing, mining, or heavy equipment manufacturing.
• Ability to produce detailed, workshop-ready fabrication drawings.
• Hands-on experience with a PDM system for BOM management and revision control.
• Ability to work independently with sound engineering judgment.

Job description

A Mechanical Designer/Drafter role where your SolidWorks work ships to the workshop floor, not a folder on a shared drive. This is a full-time, dedicated position embedded within a lean engineering team that builds custom waste and materials handling equipment, and the work you produce directly enables fabrication.

THE ROLE

As the Mechanical Designer/Drafter, you will take customer specifications and engineering concepts all the way from initial brief through to production-ready 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings. You will own the documentation pipeline, BOMs, revisions, PDM, and operate with the kind of practical autonomy that only comes when a team trusts your judgement. You will report directly to the Lead Mechanical Engineer and contribute meaningfully to every project deliverable.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Translate customer specifications and engineering concepts into production-ready 3D models using SolidWorks
• Produce detailed fabrication drawings suitable for manufacturing and workshop use
• Generate Bills of Materials and maintain accurate technical documentation throughout each project
• Manage drawing revisions and document control within the PDM system
• Work with a high degree of autonomy and practical judgement within a lean engineering team
• Report to and collaborate directly with the Lead Mechanical Engineer on project deliverables
