Job summary

WorkMate Pro in Cebu, Philippines is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer focusing on fabrication design and drawings. You will translate fabrication concepts into manufacturable 2D/3D drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD, working with fabrication and project teams to ensure accuracy and feasibility.

Responsibilities include producing shop/assembly drawings, verifying tolerances and materials, and resolving fabrication issues with welds and joints.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Strong experience in mechanical fabrication and design.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
• Experience with Navisworks and CNC fabrication/nesting software.

• Apply knowledge of welding, weld symbols, joints, and fabrication methods when preparing and reviewing drawings.
• Review designs to ensure they are suitable for fabrication, assembly, and installation.
• Work closely with fabricators and engineers to resolve design and fabrication issues.
• Modify and improve existing designs based on fabrication requirements or project changes.
• Prepare and review fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and assembly drawings.
• Perform drawing checks to identify dimensional, structural, or fabrication-related issues before production.
• Coordinate with suppliers and fabrication teams when clarification or technical information is required.
• Assist with material take‑offs, fabrication requirements, and technical documentation.
• Use Navisworks or similar software to review models and identify potential clashes or design issues where required.
• Ensure all drawings and technical documents meet project and client requirements.

About the Role

Requirements

• Good understanding of welding processes, weld symbols, joints, and fabrication methods.
• Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
• Experience creating detailed fabrication and manufacturing drawings.
• Understanding of materials, tolerances, dimensions, and practical fabrication methods.
• Ability to visualize 3D components and translate them into accurate 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to identify design issues and recommend practical fabrication solutions.
• Experience working directly with fabricators, welders, production teams, or manufacturing environments is highly preferred.
• Experience with Navisworks.
• Knowledge of CNC fabrication, nesting, or cutting processes.
• Experience with CNCAD/AutoNest or similar nesting software.
• Experience with structural steel, wear plates, fabricated components, or mining-related equipment is an advantage.
• Experience preparing ITPs, inspection documentation, and final technical documentation is an advantage.
• Experience working with ERP systems or engineering project management systems is a plus.
