About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to lead mechanical design activities while driving continuous improvement of our Autodesk Inventor design environment. This role combines hands-on engineering design with CAD automation, Model-Based Definition (MBD), drawing standardisation, and workflow optimisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical designs while reducing engineering effort through smart use of Inventor, iLogic, and process improvement. This is an engineering role first and foremost. We are looking for a practical designer who understands manufacturing, assemblies, fabrication, and who can also identify and automate repetitive CAD processes.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical products, equipment, and assemblies.
• Produce robust, manufacturable designs using Autodesk Inventor.
• Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and engineering documentation.
• Support manufacturing, procurement, and production teams.
• Conduct design reviews and engineering change management activities.
• Ensure designs meet cost, quality, safety, and performance requirements.
• Develop and maintain Inventor iLogic rules and automation tools.
• Improve engineering productivity by reducing repetitive CAD tasks.
• Lead continued development of Model-Based Definition (MBD) methodology.
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering efficiency and deliver training to engineering staff.

About you

• Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years' experience in mechanical design engineering.
• Advanced Autodesk Inventor experience.
• Strong assembly design experience.
• Strong understanding of machining, fabrication and general manufacturing processes.
• Experience producing manufacturing documentation.
• Excellent understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM).
• Experience using Model-Based Definition (MBD).
• Practical knowledge of GD&T.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
