VTECH Automation Solutions Corp. in Laguna, Philippines is seeking a skilled Mechanical CAD Designer to translate project requirements into precise 3D models and fabrication drawings. You will generate BOMs, collaborate with engineers, production and sales to evaluate concepts, and support client visits with technical proposals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of Mechanical/CAD design experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, Autodesk Inventor).
  • Strong understanding of geometry, spatial reasoning and math.
  • Knowledge of materials properties.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical components, jigs, fixtures, and automated machinery systems based on project requirements.
  • Develop comprehensive 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Apply welding symbols, tolerances, and surface finish requirements to drawings.
  • Generate and prepare Bills of Materials (BOM) for projects to guide procurement and assembly.
  • Revise and modify drawings based on instructions from superiors or client needs.
  • Collaborate with engineers, production, purchasing and sales on design concepts for automated machines.
  • Prepare material costing for project proposals to ensure financial viability.
  • Review engineering data to ensure outputs meet design plans and client specs.
  • Coordinate with fabrication team to ensure designs are producible via CNC, laser, and welding.
  • Visit production facilities to inspect quality assurance against design specs.

About the role

Design mechanical components, jigs, fixtures, and automated machinery systems based on project requirements. Develop comprehensive 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings using CAD software. Apply correct welding symbols, machining tolerances, and surface finish requirements to all technical drawings to ensure precision. Generate and prepare accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) for every project to guide procurement and assembly. Work with other Engineers, Production, Purchasing and Sales to establish and evaluate design concepts for automated machines and products. Support the Sales Team through technical visitations to client sites to assess project feasibility and requirements. Deliver technical presentations of project proposals to clients, ensuring complex automation concepts are clearly explained.

About you
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, Design or related field
  • 2+ years of Mechanical/CAD design experience
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, Autodesk Inventor)
  • Strong understanding of geometry, spatial reasoning and math
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the qualities of various materials
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
