Job summary

Pandr Outsourcing is seeking a Mechanical Draftsperson to produce precise 3D models, layouts, and manufacturing drawings aligned with client specs and internal standards. You will contribute to drafting quality, maintain the Vault library, and support nesting and site QA across projects in NZ and AU as needed.

You will mentor junior drafters, collaborate with Sales, Production, Engineering, and Workshop teams, and help drive continuous improvement while ensuring safety and documentation

Qualifications

• Proven experience with professional 3D CAD software, including Autodesk products, Inventor, and Vault.
• Strong ability to read, interpret, and generate complex technical drawings, schematics, and project specifications.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing quality standards and engineering practices.
• Strong understanding of health and safety compliance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Mechanical Draftsperson, reporting to the Industrial Mechanical Engineer, is responsible for producing precise and detailed 3D models, layouts, and manufacturing drawings that align with customer requirements, sales team specifications, internal standards, and workshop manufacturing requirements.

The role involves technical drafting and CAD execution, drawing library maintenance, drawing review, nesting support, continuous process improvement, technical guidance to other drafters, site measuring in New Zealand and Australia, project documentation, job management, and cross-functional collaboration with sales, production, engineering, workshop, purchasing, procurement, and management teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Core Drafting and Technical Execution

• Produce highly accurate 3D models, layouts, and manufacturing drawings tailored to meet internal standards and client specifications.

• Maintain and further develop the CAD drawing library (Vault) for standard components.

• Review drawings created by internal staff or external subcontractors.

• Support and document nesting operations.

• Implement continuous process improvement ideas to improve drafting and operational processes.

• Mentor junior staff and provide guidance, instruction, and technical support to other draftspersons as required.

• Undertake site measuring in both New Zealand and Australia as required.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Communication

• Liaise with the Sales Team, Production Manager, and Industrial Mechanical Engineer to clarify new jobs, document client requirements, and deliver on project expectations.

• Work closely with the Managing Director, Operations/Production Manager, Workshop Supervisor, Industrial Mechanical Engineer, and Purchasing team to ensure drawings meet presentation and workshop manufacturing standards.

• Assist the Workshop Manager and Procurement team with material and goods sourcing.

• Promptly inform management of significant variations from set budgets and costings.

• Communicate potential supplier delays or subcontractor bottlenecks to management.

Documentation and Job Management

• Ensure all company documentation, both manual and computerized, is accurately completed.

• Prepare and systematically maintain organized job files.

• Effectively manage project variations and revisions.

• Ensure variations and revisions are promptly communicated to relevant clients and internal staff.

• File all project and email correspondence in designated system folders in a timely manner.

Health, Safety, and Environment

• Strictly adhere to all current health and safety standards during the design and drafting process.

• Participate in hazard identification initiatives.

• Contribute proactive suggestions to improve workplace health and safety.

QUALIFICATIONS AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
