Job summary

Credibuild Development Corp. seeks a Materials Engineer I to monitor and ensure the quality of construction materials used on our projects.

You will oversee material testing, inspection, documentation, and quality control to meet approved plans, specs, and DPWH standards. The role requires collaboration with project teams, laboratories, suppliers, and subcontractors to verify material conformance, review test reports, and implement corrective actions as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Licensed Civil Engineer (RCE).
• DPWH accreditation as Materials Engineer I (ME I).
• At least three (3) years of relevant experience as Materials Engineer I.
• Extensive knowledge of construction materials and material testing.
• Familiarity with DPWH Standards (Blue Book) and testing standards.
• Ability to coordinate with project personnel, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Monitor delivery, handling, storage and use of construction materials on site.
• Ensure materials comply with approved plans, specs, contract requirements and DPWH standards.
• Conduct or supervise material testing and QC activities (concrete, aggregates, soil, asphalt, steel, etc.).
• Review material test results and lab reports; certify documentation.
• Coordinate with accredited labs for testing and submission of results.
• Prepare and maintain Material Test Reports and inspection records.
• Monitor supplier/subcontractor compliance with material specs and quality requirements.
• Inspect materials on delivery and identify non-conforming items; recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain proper filing of material samples, test results, approvals and supporting docs.

About the role

The Materials Engineer I is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and ensuring the quality and compliance of construction materials used in the project. The position shall oversee material testing, inspection, documentation, and quality control activities in accordance with the approved plans and specifications, project requirements, and applicable DPWH standards and specifications. The Materials Engineer I shall coordinate with the Project Management Team, site engineers, testing laboratories, suppliers, subcontractors, and other concerned parties to ensure that all materials incorporated into the works meet the required technical specifications and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and inspect the delivery, handling, storage, and utilization of construction materials at the project site.
• Ensure that all materials incorporated into the project comply with the approved plans, specifications, contract requirements, and applicable DPWH standards and specifications.
• Conduct and/or supervise required material testing and quality control activities, including concrete, aggregates, soil, asphalt, steel, and other construction materials as applicable.
• Review and verify material test results, laboratory reports, certificates, and other quality-related documents.
• Coordinate with accredited testing laboratories regarding scheduled material testing and submission of test results.
• Prepare and maintain complete and accurate Material Test Reports, inspection records, test results, and other quality control documentation.
• Monitor the compliance of suppliers and subcontractors with approved material specifications and quality requirements.
• Inspect materials upon delivery and identify non-conforming, defective, or rejected materials.
• Recommend corrective actions for materials or works that do not conform to the approved specifications.
• Maintain proper filing and monitoring of material samples, test results, approvals, and supporting documents.

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field.
• Licensed Civil Engineer (RCE).
• Valid DPWH accreditation as Materials Engineer I (ME I).
• At least three (3) years of relevant experience specifically as a Materials Engineer I.
• Extensive knowledge of construction materials, material testing, and quality control procedures.
• Knowledge of DPWH Standard Specifications for Highways, Bridges and Airports (Blue Book) and applicable testing standards.
• Knowledgeable in the preparation and evaluation of material test reports and quality control documentation.
• Able to coordinate effectively with project personnel, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong attention to detail and quality orientation.
