Job summary

China Wu Yi Company Ltd. is seeking a Materials Engineer to verify that construction materials meet approved plans, specs, and codes on our projects in Metro Manila.

This role collaborates with the Project Manager, QA/QC, site engineers, and laboratories to ensure quality and compliance from procurement through installation. You will review submittals, coordinate testing, monitor mix designs and tests, maintain documentation, and report non-conforming materials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Materials Engineering.
• Licensed Engineer (PRC).
• 5+ years of relevant construction/site experience.
• Experience in buildings, civil works, or government projects.
• Proficient with drawings, specs, quantity measurements, and site docs.
• MS Office proficiency; AutoCAD is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review and verify material specifications, technical data, certificates, and approvals.
• Inspect incoming construction materials and confirm compliance with approved submittals.
• Coordinate sampling and testing of concrete, soil, aggregates, reinforcing steel, and other materials.
• Monitor concrete mix designs, trial mixes, slump tests, compressive-strength tests, and related quality tests.
• Maintain material test reports, certificates, inspection records, and material approval documents.
• Identify and report non-conforming materials and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate with accredited laboratories, suppliers, consultants, and project personnel.
• Ensure materials are properly stored, protected, handled, and used on site.
• Assist in preparing QA/QC reports, material status reports, and documentation for inspections and project handover.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable DPWH/Philippine standards.

About the role

Responsible for ensuring that all construction materials used in a project comply with approved plans, specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes. The role includes reviewing material submittals, conducting or coordinating laboratory and field testing, inspecting delivered materials, monitoring proper storage and handling, and maintaining complete quality-control documentation.

The Materials Engineer works closely with the Project Manager, QA/QC Engineer, Site Engineers, consultants, suppliers, and testing laboratories to ensure that concrete, reinforcing steel, aggregates, cement, structural steel, waterproofing materials, and other construction products meet project requirements before and during installation.

About you

• Knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, quantity measurements, and site documentation.
• Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of AutoCAD is an advantage.
• Good communication, coordination, problem-solving, and site supervision skills.
• Experience in school buildings, commercial buildings, government projects, or similar construction projects.
• Experience working with subcontractors and construction crews.
