Atlas Propulsion Philippines Inc. needs a practical Process Engineer to develop, qualify, and improve manufacturing processes for precision propulsion products. This person owns work instructions, tooling and fixture readiness, production flow, process controls, metrics, and continuous improvement from prototype builds through production ramp
II. What You Own
Six operating areas define the role. The engineer must improve daily production while building scalable processes.
Manufacturing Process Development & NPI
- Translate designs, BOMs, drawings, and specs into build sequences, routings, process parameters, and production readiness plans.
- Lead prototype builds, pilot runs, and ramp-up learnings; close process gaps before release to production.
- Partner with engineering, quality, supply chain, and production to make designs manufacturable and repeatable.
Tooling, Fixtures & Equipment Readiness
- Specify, design, qualify, and improve fixtures, jigs, assembly aids, gauges, test stands, tools, and production equipment.
- Support calibration, preventive maintenance inputs, spare parts readiness, and equipment operating standards.
- Supports the troubleshooting and equipment with quick containment and durable corrective action.
- Design line layouts, WIP controls, kitting points, material flow, visual management, and ergonomic/safe stations.
- Analyze bottlenecks, line balance, OEE/downtime, throughput, and yield; run practical kaizen projects.
- Improve 5S, ESD/FOD discipline, cleanliness, tool control, and standard work on the manufacturing floor.
Work Instructions, Standards & Training
- Create and maintain visual work instructions, travelers, setup sheets, checklists, and standard operating procedures.
- Define cycle time, labor standards, station responsibilities, material presentation, and process checkpoints.
- Train technicians and operators, verify adherence, and update documents based on lessons learned.
Process Controls, Quality & Yield
- Define critical process parameters, inspection points, in-process checks, control plans, and acceptance criteria.
- Use PFMEA, root cause, DOE, SPC, or data analysis to reduce variation, scrap, rework, and escapes.
- Support NCR/CAPA, MRB, supplier material issues, first article builds, change management, and production validation activities.
Documentation, Data & Cross-Functional Execution
- Maintain process change records, build reports, lessons learned, readiness trackers, and open-action dashboards.
- Use Excel, Google Sheets, ERP/MRP, or similar tools to track yield, cycle time, downtime, capacity, and risks.
- Communicate status, blockers, and recovery plans clearly across production, engineering, quality, and operations.
III. What We Are Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years of process, manufacturing, industrial, or production engineering experience in electromechanical, automotive, aerospace, robotics, electronics, motors, or machining.
- Hands-on experience with work instructions, process flows, BOM/routings, fixtures, line layouts, control plans, and production readiness.
- Strong problem-solving toolkit: 5-Why, fishbone, Pareto, PFMEA/control plan, DOE, SPC, or similar structured methods.
- Experience supporting NPI, pilot builds, production ramp, cycle-time reduction, yield improvement, scrap reduction, or rework reduction.
- Comfortable working on the factory floor with technicians and operators and translating drawings/specifications into repeatable processes.
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills; able to summarize metrics, tradeoffs, and recommendations for operations leadership.
- High ownership, urgency, safety mindset, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-moving manufacturing startup environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience in aerospace, defense, UAS/drone, propulsion, motors, robotics, automotive, electronics, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
- CAD and fixture design capability using SolidWorks, Fusion 360, NX, CATIA, or similar tools. Knowledge of GD&T, measurement systems, MSA/gage R&R, torque/force measurement, balancing, calibration, or process capability.
- Exposure to ISO 9001, AS9100, Lean Six Sigma, 5S, ESD/FOD controls, PPAP/APQP/FAI, or internal audit practices.
- Hands-on experience with motor assembly, winding, soldering, adhesives/potting, press fits, CNC, precision assembly, or electronics assembly.
IV. Key Character Behaviors
Strong performance combines technical discipline with ownership of how the process works on the production floor.
- Disciplined problem solving: Frames defects in measurable terms, verifies the data, and tests likely causes before changing the process.
- Process ownership: Carries trials through approved parameters, work instructions, operator training, and sustained production results.
- Shop-floor curiosity: Observes the actual work, asks operators specific questions, and uses their input to expose sources of variation.
- Evidence-led judgment: Balances speed with control, separates signal from noise, and states assumptions when evidence remains incomplete.
- Collaborative influence: Aligns Production, Quality, Design, Equipment, and Test teams while keeping accountability and technical clarity.
