Job Description
A line cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food in a professional kitchen, typically working under the supervision of the head chef or kitchen manager. Their duties include:
- Food Preparation: Prepping ingredients such as chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and making sauces according to recipe specifications.
- Cooking and Plating: Cooking dishes according to the menu, ensuring food is prepared in a timely manner and presented according to restaurant standards.
- Maintaining Cleanliness: Ensuring the kitchen and workstations are kept clean and organized, following sanitation and food safety guidelines.
- Managing Inventory: Assisting with stock rotation and keeping track of kitchen supplies to ensure no shortages or wastage.
- Collaboration: Working closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations, including communication with servers and other cooks.
- Quality Control: Ensuring the consistency and quality of dishes, adjusting seasoning and presentation as needed.
