Job summary

SMBC Group in Metro Manila is seeking to replace a resigning Legal Officer to maintain continued legal support for the Bank. The role focuses on identifying and managing legal risks, delivering legal advice, reviewing contracts, and supporting the Legal Unit’s operations as well as DPO functions.

The candidate should have strong drafting and analytical skills, with a minimum of four years’ legal experience including two years in corporate law, ideally involving large transactions.

Qualifications

• Member of the Philippine Bar in good standing.
• At least four years of legal experience, including at least two years of corporate experience with a reputable law firm.
• Experience in complex or large transactions, preferably financing transactions.
• Knowledge of Philippine civil and corporate laws, legal enforcement risk, operational risk management, and banking or financial transactions.
• Strong legal drafting, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review contracts, including loan, lease, service, and treasury agreements.
• Assess legal risks and recommend appropriate risk-mitigation measures.

• Monitor and report actual or potential disputes and litigation.
