Job summary

Metrobank is seeking a Legal Officer in Taguig to provide legal services ensuring compliance with applicable laws and protecting the bank’s interests.

You will draft and review contracts, give opinions, coordinate across units, supervise staff, and contribute to policy development to support the bank’s strategic objectives.

Qualifications

• JD or equivalent law degree required.
• Bar exam passer required.
• 3–5 years of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drafts and/or reviews contracts, agreements, forms, memos, and letters to ensure compliance and protect the bank’s interests.
• Provides legal opinions and advice on issues raised by bank units and branches.
• Coordinates with bank units/branches and external agencies to fulfill legal requirements.
• Supervises legal assistants and department staff.
• Prepares reports for management.
• Performs other related functions as needed.

Position Title: Legal Officer

Job Summary:

• Provides the necessary and required legal services/assistance/advice to the Bank’s units and branches to ensure that its transactions, operations, activities and documentation are compliant with applicable laws/rules and to protect the interests of the Bank.

Role Exposure:

• Drafts and/or reviews documents (i.e., contracts, agreements, forms, memos, letters) in relation to Bank’s transactions or to which the Bank is/will be a party or has/will have an interest in, as well as Bank policies, to ensure compliance with existing laws/rules and to protect the interest of the Bank
• Provides legal opinions/advice/assistance on legal issues endorsed by various units/branches of the Bank
• Coordinates with the different Bank units/branches, clients and other agencies and entities for the purpose of attending to the legal requirements of the Bank and rendering legal assistance to enforce the Bank’s rights and protect its interests
• Supervises the work of assigned legal assistant and staff of the department
• Proposes policies and adopts internal guidelines for effective and efficient banking documentation and handling of legal concerns/issues/cases endorsed by various units/branches of the Bank
• Prepares reports as may be required by bank units/branches and management
• Performs other related functions that may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications:

• Graduate of Juris Doctor, Law, Legal or any related courses
• Must be a bar exam passer
• Preferably 3-5 years related experience
