Coherent Corp. is seeking a Supplier Quality Senior TL Supervisor to lead supplier qualification, audits, and performance reviews.

You will define incoming material criteria, monitor supplier KPIs, and drive CAPA through cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Procurement, and Manufacturing teams. The role emphasizes process change management, Six Sigma and DOE-based improvement initiatives, and strict adherence to RoHS, REACH, PFAS, and related quality standards.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or equivalent with electronics/optical focus.
• Experience with quality management systems and supplier audits is preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Lead supplier qualification and audits to ensure industry standards compliance.
• Define inspection criteria and acceptance for incoming materials including wafers and packaging.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Key Leadership Deliverables

• Supplier Qualification & Audits
• Conduct supplier assessments, audits, and capability evaluations to ensure suppliers meet semiconductor industry standards (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO 9001).
• Material Incoming Quality Control
• Define and monitor incoming material inspection criteria, sampling plans, and acceptance standards for wafers, components, chemicals, or packaging materials.
• Process Change Management (PCN/ECN Review)
• Review, evaluate, and approve supplier process changes, equipment modifications, or material substitutions to prevent quality risks.
• Supplier Performance Monitoring
• Track and analyze key supplier KPIs (PPM, OTD, DPPM, defect trends) and conduct regular supplier reviews.
• Non-Conformance Management
• Lead supplier-related nonconformance handling, including issue containment, root-cause analysis (8D, 5 Whys), and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
• New Supplier & New Material Introduction
• Support supplier onboarding and qualification of new materials through detailed risk assessment, reliability testing, and documentation review.
• Technical Problem-Solving
• Work with suppliers to investigate yield-impacting issues, design weaknesses, or process variability affecting semiconductor device performance.
• Continuous Improvement Programs
• Drive supplier improvement projects (Six Sigma, SPC optimization, DOE) to enhance quality, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Compliance & Documentation Control
• Ensure supplier compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements (RoHS, REACH, PFAS restrictions, conflict minerals reporting).
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with internal Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to align supplier quality strategies with production requirements

A successful Supplier Quality Senior TL Supervisor should consistently deliver:

• Reliable supplier performance with reduced defects and improved delivery reliability.
• Lower Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) by minimizing incoming quality issues and supplier-related disruptions.
• Successful supplier onboarding and project transfers to support new product launches.
• Improved supplier capability through audits, coaching, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Effective leadership of the Supplier Quality team, including performance management and technical development.
• Strong collaboration across Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Customer Quality to resolve issues quickly.
• Data-driven decision-making using supplier scorecards, quality dashboards, and trend analysis.
• Compliance with quality management systems and customer-specific requirements.
• Risk mitigation by identifying supplier risks early and implementing preventive actions.
• Contribution to business growth by ensuring a stable, high-quality supply chain that supports production, customer satisfaction, and revenue generation.

Education & Experience

• BS in any Engineering course preferably in the field of Electronics, Optical or equivalent.

Skills

• Proficiency in 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA, and corrective action methodologies.
• Statistical Process Control (SPC) & Data Analysis
• Ability to use statistical tools (JMP, Minitab, Excel) to analyze trends, variability, and process capability (Cp/Cpk).
• Semiconductor Process & Material Knowledge
• Understanding of wafer fabrication, assembly processes, packaging, materials, reliability standards, and failure mechanisms.
• Quality Management Systems (QMS)
• Familiar with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and semiconductor standards (JEDEC).
• Supplier Audit & Assessment Skills
• Experience in performing process audits, PQR/VQR reviews, and supplier capability assessments.
• Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Ability to clearly communicate with suppliers, engineers, and management across diverse teams.

• Skilled at driving suppliers to meet requirements, improve processes, and commit to corrective actions.
