Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage daily IQA activities and ensure timely inspection and disposition of incoming materials.
- Review material specifications, drawings, inspection standards, sampling plans, and supplier quality documents.
- Analyze incoming material defects, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead investigations of supplier-related nonconformities using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, and other root-cause analysis methods.
- Issue, monitor, and verify the effectiveness of Supplier Corrective Action Requests.
- Coordinate with suppliers, Purchasing, Engineering, Warehouse, Production, and Quality teams to resolve material-quality issues.
- Support supplier qualification, new material approval, first article inspection, and process-validation activities.
- Participate in supplier audits and evaluate supplier process controls, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and inspection systems.
- Monitor supplier performance using metrics such as DPPM, rejection rate, responsiveness, and corrective-action effectiveness.
- Recommend material containment, sorting, rework, return, replacement, or acceptance based on documented risk assessment.
- Review and approve inspection results, supplier reports, deviation requests, and material dispositions within assigned authority.
- Develop and improve incoming inspection procedures, checklists, sampling plans, and quality records.
- Support risk-based inspection methods, including reduced or skip inspection, based on historical supplier performance and quality data.
- Lead or support continuous-improvement projects to reduce incoming defects, inspection effort, material waste, and cost of poor quality.
- Prepare regular reports on IQA and supplier performance, including trends, risks, and improvement actions.
- Provide technical guidance and training to inspectors, and relevant production personnel.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, and applicable quality-management-system standards.
- Escalate significant or recurring supplier-quality issues to the Quality Manager and recommend appropriate action.
Education & Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering or its equivalents with at least 5 years of relevant work experience semiconductor or electronics / optoelectronics industry.
Skills
- Knowledge of Incoming Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality Engineering processes.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, inspection standards, and quality requirements.
- Proficiency in quality tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA, Control Plan, SPC, and CAPA.
- Experience in supplier evaluation, supplier audits, and corrective-action management.
- Ability to analyze quality data, rejection trends, DPPM, and supplier performance.
- Knowledge of sampling plans and risk-based inspection methods.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and other applicable quality-management-system requirements.
- Proficiency in developing Quality Dashboards using Microsoft Power BI is a strong advantage.
- Strong coordination and communication skills with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to prepare technical reports, presentations, and quality documentation.
- Knowledge of statistical or quality tools such as JMP, Minitab, or equivalent is an advantage.
- Demonstrates keen attention to detail, data-driven thinking, and effective decision-making skills.
- Ability to lead improvement projects and manage multiple priorities.
