Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct supplier assessments, audits, and capability evaluations to ensure suppliers meet semiconductor industry standards (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO 9001).
- Material Incoming Quality Control
- Define and monitor incoming material inspection criteria, sampling plans, and acceptance standards for wafers, components, chemicals, or packaging materials.
- Process Change Management (PCN/ECN Review)
- Review, evaluate, and approve supplier process changes, equipment modifications, or material substitutions to prevent quality risks.
- Track and analyze key supplier KPIs (PPM, OTD, DPPM, defect trends) and conduct regular supplier reviews.
- Non-Conformance Management
- Lead supplier-related nonconformance handling, including issue containment, root-cause analysis (8D, 5 Whys), and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Support supplier onboarding and qualification of new materials through detailed risk assessment, reliability testing, and documentation review.
- Technical Problem-Solving
- Work with suppliers to investigate yield-impacting issues, design weaknesses, or process variability affecting semiconductor device performance.
- Drive supplier improvement projects (Six Sigma, SPC optimization, DOE) to enhance quality, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Compliance & Documentation Control
- Ensure supplier compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements (RoHS, REACH, PFAS restrictions, conflict minerals reporting).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with internal Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to align supplier quality strategies with production requirements.
Education & Experience
- BS in any Engineering course preferably in the field of Electronics, Optical or equivalent.
Skills
- Root Cause Analysis & Problem-Solving Tools
- Proficiency in 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA, and corrective action methodologies.
- Statistical Process Control (SPC) & Data Analysis
- Ability to use statistical tools (JMP, Minitab, Excel) to analyze trends, variability, and process capability (Cp/Cpk).
- Semiconductor Process & Material Knowledge
- Understanding of wafer fabrication, assembly processes, packaging, materials, reliability standards, and failure mechanisms.
- Quality Management Systems (QMS)
- Familiar with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and semiconductor standards (JEDEC).
- Supplier Audit & Assessment Skills
- Experience in performing process audits, PQR/VQR reviews, and supplier capability assessments.
- Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Ability to clearly communicate with suppliers, engineers, and management across diverse teams.
- Negotiation & Influence
- Skilled at driving suppliers to meet requirements, improve processes, and commit to corrective actions.
- Analytical & Critical Thinking
- Strong ability to evaluate complex data, identify patterns, and make informed decisions.
- Project Management
- Organizing supplier improvement projects, timelines, evaluations, and cross-team activities.
- Attention to Detail & Risk Awareness
- Ensuring accuracy in documentation, supplier reports, PCN reviews, and quality risk assessments.
