Job summary

Metrobank seeks a Lead Developer to provide technical direction across development teams, guiding solution design, reviews, and code quality. You will ensure alignment with business requirements, regulatory standards, and best practices while mentoring engineers and promoting innovative technologies.

You will collaborate with analysts, stakeholders, and vendors to estimate effort, design architectures, and deliver secure, scalable bank applications within the SDLC framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, computer engineering, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of experience in software development, with proven experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise-grade applications.
• Experience with Oracle databases, including SQL scripting, query optimization, and database design.
• Knowledge of SQL and database-driven application development.
• Experience in designing and developing scalable, secure, and high-performing applications within a structured SDLC environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Business Analysts and stakeholders to provide technical input, solution recommendations, and development effort estimates during requirements gathering and planning activities.
• Design and document application architectures, system workflows, and technical specifications to support development and implementation requirements.
• Develop, enhance, and maintain application code based on approved business requirements, solution designs, and development standards.
• Conduct unit testing and perform code validation to ensure applications function according to design specifications and quality standards.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve application defects and technical issues identified during SIT, UAT, and production support activities, coordinating with vendors when necessary.
• Review application designs and code implementations to ensure compliance with security, regulatory, architectural, and development best practices.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to developers, promoting code quality and adherence to standards.
• Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks that support business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to developers, promoting code quality, knowledge sharing, and adherence to development standards.
• Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks that support business objectives and improve operational efficiency.
• Contribute to innovation initiatives by exploring and implementing new technologies that enhance the reliability, performance, usability, scalability, and security of the bank's applications and services.
• Participate in solution planning, technical assessments, and project implementation activities to ensure successful delivery within agreed timelines and scope.
• Ensure all development activities comply with the Bank's Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), governance policies, regulatory requirements, and technology standards.
• Support production deployments, system enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain application stability and performance.
• Prepare and maintain accurate technical documentation for applications, designs, processes, and support procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business units, project managers, testers, architects, and vendors, to deliver effective technology solutions.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of application architecture, system integration, API development, and enterprise application frameworks.
• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues across multiple environments and technology platforms.
• Demonstrated people management or team leadership experience, including mentoring, coaching, and guiding developers to achieve project and team objectives.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Business Analysts, Project Managers, Architects, Quality Assurance teams, and other stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
