Job summary

Dyson is seeking a Lead Design Engineer to join its Research Design and Development department. You will drive end-to-end product design, from concept through prototyping to production, ensuring on-time delivery and cost targets.

You will lead cross-functional teams, develop design requirements with measurable objectives, and tackle high-risk engineering challenges while maintaining thorough documentation and process improvements. A strong background in 3D CAD, GD&T, and DFx is essential.

Qualifications

• Requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related science discipline.
• 8+ years of design and product development experience on complex technical problems.
• Ability to analyze processes, identify problems and develop efficient strategies.
• Capable of leading a project or contributing as an individual contributor delivering on time, budget and spec.

Responsibilities

• Deliver product designs and assemblies to production on time, cost, quality and specification.
• Plan and prioritize tasks based on risk, maturity, and interdependencies.
• Define design requirements with clear, measurable objectives.
• Work on high-risk engineering problems and de-risk with solid design and documentation.
• Lead and guide teams, foster collaboration, and communicate with leads and managers.
• Review and approve detailed design specs, 3D models, CAD drawings, BOMs and tolerances.
• Coordinate building functional prototypes for testing and demonstration.
• Lead sustained improvements to product quality and production throughput.
