Overview
A Laundry Attendant is responsible for washing, drying, folding, ironing, and organizing clothes and linens in hotels, hospitals, laundromats, or other facilities. They ensure cleanliness and quality control while maintaining equipment and assisting customers if required.
Responsibilities
- Sort, wash, dry, fold, and iron linens, clothes, and other fabrics.
- Operate commercial washing machines, dryers, and pressing equipment.
- Inspect laundry for stains, damage, or missing items and take appropriate action.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the laundry room.
- Follow safety and sanitation guidelines to prevent cross-contamination.
- Track laundry inventory and report supply needs.
- Assist customers with self-service laundry operations (if applicable).
- Handle and store detergents and chemicals safely.
- Deliver clean laundry to designated areas as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not always required).
- Prior experience in laundry operations (preferred but not mandatory).
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy loads (up to 50 lbs).
- Basic knowledge of laundry equipment and detergents.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Good communication and customer service skills (if interacting with guests).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
