Overview
A Laundry Attendant is responsible for washing, drying, folding, and ironing clothes, linens, and other fabric items. They ensure cleanliness, organization, and proper handling of laundry in hotels, hospitals, laundromats, or other facilities.
Responsibilities
- Operate washing, drying, and ironing machines
- Sort, load, and unload laundry based on color, fabric, and care instructions
- Inspect items for stains or damage and treat them accordingly
- Fold, stack, and organize clean laundry
- Maintain cleanliness of laundry equipment and work area
- Track inventory of laundry supplies and report shortages
- Follow safety and sanitation guidelines
- Assist guests or customers with laundry-related inquiries (in hotels or laundromats)
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not always required)
- Previous experience in laundry, housekeeping, or a similar role is a plus
- Basic knowledge of laundry equipment and detergents
- Ability to follow instructions and handle delicate fabrics properly
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy laundry loads
- Attention to detail to identify stains or damages
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Good customer service skills (if interacting with clients or guests)
