Job summary

Arcadis Consulting Middle East Limited is seeking a Senior Engineer - Land Development who will lead civil design and documentation across land development projects from concept through detailed design and construction support.

You will supervise grading, drainage, roads, utilities and earthworks, mentor junior engineers, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure quality, safety, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Typically 6-10 years of civil engineering experience, with a strong focus on land development.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and 12d for design and documentation.
• Strong knowledge of site development principles and construction documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of land development packages, including grading, roads, stormwater drainage, utilities and earthworks.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and reports for accuracy and compliance.

About the role

The Senior Engineer - Land Development is responsible for delivering high-quality civil engineering design and documentation across land development projects, from concept and feasibility through detailed design and construction support. The role provides technical leadership in the planning and design of site grading, roads, drainage, utilities, and earthworks, while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve safe, compliant, and buildable outcomes. This position also supports project delivery through mentoring junior engineers, driving quality and efficiency, and applying sound engineering judgement to meet client, programme, and commercial objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of land development packages, including grading, roads, stormwater drainage, utilities, and earthworks, ensuring alignment with project scope, programme, budget, and quality requirements.

• Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance with relevant standards, codes, and client requirements.

• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, drafters, and external stakeholders to integrate civil design elements and support efficient delivery across all design stages.

• Provide technical guidance, checking, and mentoring to junior engineers and designers, helping build capability and maintain consistent delivery quality.

• Support project planning, risk identification, and issue resolution, proactively addressing technical challenges and design changes as they arise.

• Apply digital tools, standard methodologies, and efficient workflows to enhance productivity, consistency, and technical quality.

• Promote safe, sustainable, and professional engineering practices while upholding company values, quality systems, and business ethics requirements.

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required; professional licensure or an equivalent certification is preferred.

• Typically 6-10 years of civil engineering experience, with a strong focus on land development projects such as residential, commercial, industrial, or mixed-use developments.

• Demonstrated experience in the design of grading, drainage, roads, utilities, and earthworks, supported by a solid understanding of site development principles and construction documentation.

• Proficiency in industry-standard design tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, 12d and related digital engineering platforms.

• Strong knowledge of applicable engineering standards, Australian authority requirements, and permitting or approval processes relevant to land development.

• Proven ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, manage competing priorities, and deliver quality outputs within agreed deadlines.

• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder coordination skills, with the ability to work independently and provide technical leadership within project teams.
