Job summary

FHI 360 in the Philippines seeks a Laboratory Specialist to lead hands‑on technical support for STRIDES laboratory systems strengthening. You will implement and monitor initiatives, prepare technical materials, and work with STRIDES HQ and in‑country staff to assess program effectiveness.

You will evaluate, oversee, and report on technical activities, contribute to QA/QC, and support data integration and capacity building across diagnostic networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, Public Health, Microbiology or equivalent in a clinical or diagnostic discipline.
• Typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience working with infectious disease diagnostics and/or laboratory systems strengthening.
• Experience training and mentoring laboratory staff on molecular diagnostics, sequencing, QA/QC, and biosafety.
• Prior work with USG-funded projects and familiarity with USG regulations is preferred.
• Fluency in English and Tagalog is required.

Responsibilities

• Promotes adopting and integrating new diagnostic technologies based on country needs and priorities.
• Works with government partners and project management to align laboratory and diagnostic activities with goals.
• Develops and implements laboratory‑ and diagnostic‑related components of work plans.
• Analyzes project implementation to identify improvements and proposes technical strategies.
• Monitors project activities, results, and deliverables and raises issues to management.
• Supports integration of laboratory diagnostic data into national platforms.
