Job summary

MERALCO is seeking a Labor Relations Associate to support the implementation of labor relations systems and programs, fostering trust and teamwork in line with company culture and employee engagement strategies.

The role involves administering labor relations policies and contracts, participating in negotiations, conducting research on employee relations issues, and providing strategic LR support to leadership across subsidiaries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in legal management, behavioral science, industrial relations, or related courses.

Responsibilities

• Administers the company's labor relations programs and policies, collective agreements and individual employment contracts to ensure compliance with legislation, employment standards and relevant laws & regulations.
• Participates in negotiations, collective agreements and dispute resolutions with employees, union members, government agencies, and other relevant authorities to protect the rights and interests of the company.
• Conducts research and analysis to provide clarity and resolution to employee relations/bargaining/negotiation issues and concerns raised by functional heads, business partners, legal counsels, and employees.
• Keeps in pace with employee relations climate of the company and the industry to ensure that labor relations policies and programs are relevant and updated.
• Prepares statistical reports, minutes, and updates records of actions and resolutions taken concerning grievances, arbitration, negotiation and mediation cases, administrative cases, and related labor relations activities.
• Conducts LR programs and communicates effectively to the line organizations including subsidiaries and affiliates.
• Provides LR strategic support to line/functional heads in the execution of short/long term business plans.
• Provides inputs and recommendations to the design and implementation of LR programs of line/functional organizations, including subsidiaries and affiliates, as well as other specific LR programs and interventions to address client needs.

The Labor Relations Associate supports the implementation of the labor relations systems (internal and external labor relations) to create an environment of trust, mutual respect, encouragement and team work as aligned with culture building and employee engagement strategies of the company.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Administers the company's labor relations programs and policies, collective agreements and individual employment contracts to ensure compliance with legislation, employment standards and relevant laws & regulations.
• Participates in negotiations, collective agreements and dispute resolutions with employees, union members, government agencies, and other relevant authorities to protect the rights and interests of the company.
• Conducts research and analysis to provide clarity and resolution to employee relations/bargaining/negotiation issues and concerns raised by functional heads, business partners, legal counsels, and employees.
• Keeps in pace with employee relations climate (labor temperature) of the company and the industry to ensure that labor relations policies and programs are relevant and updated.
• Prepares statistical reports, minutes, and updates records of actions and resolutions taken concerning grievances, arbitration, negotiation and mediation cases, administrative cases, and related labor relations activities.
• Conducts monthly, quarterly coordination meetings between Management and the unions.
• Provides LR strategic support to line/functional heads in the execution of short/long term business plans.
• Provides inputs and recommendations to the design and implementation of LR programs of line/functional organizations, including subsidiaries and affiliates, as well as other specific LR programs and interventions to address client needs.
• Collaborates across all levels in the line/functional organization, including subsidiaries and affiliates to ensure alignment of LR, programs with business objectives.
• Conducts LR programs and communicates effectively to the line organizations including subsidiaries and affiliates.
• Supports client groups for LR needs interventions, labor laws and policies.
• Maintains effective business partnering relationships to develop positive and harmonious interaction with client organizations, including government agencies.
• Assists in LR Operational Requirements for client organizations.
