Job summary

Kwanii is seeking a Kitchen Helper to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen, supporting the cooking team for breakfast and brunch service. You will handle basic food preparation, sanitation, and kitchen tasks essential to smooth café operations.

Responsibilities include washing and sanitizing equipment, receiving deliveries, restocking supplies, and assisting during busy periods while adhering to health standards. Early mornings, weekends, and holidays are required.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent; any food service or hospitality-related training is a plus.
• Willingness to learn and follow kitchen procedures and food safety guidelines.
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift supplies up to 20kg.
• Availability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required by café operating hours.
• Strong work ethic with attention to cleanliness and organization.
• Ability to follow instructions and work well under supervision.
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

• Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment thoroughly and sanitize them according to health standards.
• Clean and sanitize all kitchen work surfaces, floors, equipment, and storage areas throughout the shift.
• Empty trash bins regularly and maintain proper waste disposal and segregation procedures.
• Assist cooks with basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruits.
• Receive and properly store food deliveries, ensuring items are organized and rotated using FIFO (First In, First Out) method.
• Restock kitchen supplies, ingredients, and cooking stations as needed during service.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of food storage areas, walk-in refrigerators, and dry storage.
• Assist in setting up the kitchen before service and breaking down stations after closing.
• Support the cooking team during busy periods by fetching ingredients, tools, and supplies.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a hygienic kitchen environment.
• Report any equipment malfunctions, supply shortages, or maintenance needs to supervisors.
• Assist with inventory counting and stock management as directed.
• Maintain a positive attitude and work cooperatively with all team members.
