Kitchen Equipment Technician
Job Summary
The Kitchen Equipment Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial kitchen and food production equipment used in Global Catering’s in-flight catering operations. The role ensures that all kitchen equipment remains in optimal working condition to support uninterrupted meal production, food safety compliance, operational efficiency, and ontime flight catering services.
Equipment Maintenance and Repair
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on commercial kitchen equipment and food production machinery.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, gas, steam, and hydraulic faults
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure equipment safety, reliability, and operational readiness.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize operational downtime.
- Maintain equipment performance in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
Equipment Covered
Maintain and repair various catering and food production equipment including:
- Industrial ovens and combi ovens
- Blast chillers and freezers
- Walk-in chillers and cold rooms
- Refrigerators and freezers
- Dishwashing machines
- Steam kettles and steamers
- Hot holding units and food warmers
- Packaging and sealing machines
- Gas and electric cooking equipment
Preventive Maintenance
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance programs for all kitchen equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify potential failures before
- Recommend equipment upgrades, repairs, or replacement when necessary.
- Ensure proper calibration and functionality of critical equipment.
Food Safety and Compliance
- Support compliance with food safety standards and quality assurance requirements.
- Ensure equipment is maintained in sanitary and hygienic operating conditions.
- Adhere to workplace safety procedures and maintenance protocols.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and corrective action programs.
Project and Installation Support
- Assist in installation, commissioning, and relocation of kitchen equipment.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
- Support facility expansion and improvement projects involving food production equipment.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service reports, and repair records.
- Prepare breakdown analysis and recommendations for recurring equipment issues.
- Monitor spare parts inventory and recommend procurement requirements.
- Update equipment history records and preventive maintenance schedules.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Work may involve rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs.
- Frequent exposure to kitchen production areas, cold rooms, utility areas, and equipment rooms.
- Requires physical activities such as lifting, climbing, bending, and working in confined spaces.
Qualifications
- Graduate of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology, Mechanical Technology, Electromechanical Technology, Industrial Technology, or related technical course.
- TESDA certification or equivalent technical certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in commercial kitchen equipment maintenance, hospitality, food manufacturing, airline catering, hotel, or industrial
- Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and gas-operated
- Experience troubleshooting industrial catering equipment and food production machinery.
- Ability to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and equipment schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
