ABOUT THE ROLE
The Junior Site Engineer – Rebars & Reinforcement ensures that rebar installation and reinforcement activities are carried out in accordance with approved structural drawings, specifications, construction standards, approved shop drawings, and project quality and safety requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Rebar Installation & Site Supervision
- Supervises and monitors the installation of reinforcing bars.
- Verifies that reinforcement works conform to approved structural drawings, bar bending schedules, shop drawings, and project specifications.
- Monitors the proper placement, spacing, alignment, orientation, and quantity of reinforcing bars.
- Coordinates with foreman and workers to ensure that rebar installation follows the approved sequence and construction methodology.
2. Rebar Quantity & Material Verification
- Checks bar sizes, grades, lengths, quantities, and identification markings prior to installation.
- Assists in monitoring rebar consumption and identifying potential material shortages, excesses, or discrepancies.
- Assists in preparing quantity take-offs and material requirements for upcoming reinforcement activities.
3. Inspection & Quality Control
- Conducts routine inspections of reinforcement works before concrete pouring.
- Verifies bar diameter, spacing, number of bars, lap length, development length, anchorage, ties, stirrups, chairs, spacers, and concrete cover.
- Ensures that reinforcement is properly secured and adequately supported to prevent displacement during concrete placement.
- Checks reinforcement works against approved inspection checklists and quality control procedures.
- Coordinates with the Quality Control/Quality Assurance team for required inspections and approvals.
- Assists in documenting inspection results, corrective actions, and completed works.
4. Drawing & Technical Document Review
- Reviews structural plans, reinforcement details, shop drawings, bar bending schedules, specifications, and other relevant technical documents.
- Assists in identifying discrepancies or conflicts between structural drawings, architectural drawings, MEP requirements, and actual site conditions.
- Ensures that the latest approved drawings and revisions are being used at the construction site.
- Assists in maintaining updated records of drawings, revisions, inspection documents, and other technical references.
5. Construction Coordination
- Coordinates reinforcement activities with formwork, concrete, MEP, surveying, and other site operations.
- Participates in site coordination meetings and provides updates regarding the status and requirements of reinforcement works.
- Assists in identifying site constraints that may affect reinforcement installation and recommends practical solutions to the supervising engineer.
- Coordinates inspection schedules to ensure that completed reinforcement works are approved before concrete pouring.
6. Progress Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitors daily progress of reinforcement activities against the approved construction schedule.
- Records completed quantities, manpower deployment, work accomplishments, and site activities.
- Identifying delays, productivity issues, material constraints, and other factors affecting project progress.
- Provides timely updates to the Project Engineer or Site Manager regarding the status of assigned works.
8. Documentation & Record Keeping
- Maintains accurate records of inspection requests, material deliveries, work accomplishments, approved drawings, RFIs, and other project documents related to reinforcement works.
- Ensures that required documentation is properly filed and readily available for project monitoring and inspection.
9. Coordination with Project Team
- Works closely with the Project Engineer, Structural Engineer, Site Supervisor, Foreman, Quantity Surveyor, QA/QC personnel, Safety Officer, Surveyor, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Communicates technical and site-related concerns clearly and promptly to the appropriate personnel.
- Supports senior engineers in implementing construction plans, resolving site issues, and achieving project milestones.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, or any relevant course.
- Preferably with PRC license as a Registered Civil Engineer (CE)
Professional Experience
- With 1 - 2 years of relevant experience in construction, preferably with exposure to rebar installation, structural works, site supervision, and construction inspection.
- Knowledgeable in reading and interpreting structural drawings and Bar Bending Schedules (BBS)
