- Work venue: 2nd Floor, Nelly Garden Building, E. Lopez Street, Jaro, Iloilo City 5000
About the Position
We are seeking a Junior Fire Protection Draftsperson to produce accurate, regulation-compliant drawings and Revit models for fire protection systems — including sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels, fire detection and alarm systems, EWIS, gaseous suppression, and bushfire sprinkler systems. You will translate the Design/Drafting Lead’s concepts, site survey findings, and mark‑ups into formal shop drawings, as‑built records, and other deliverables needed for design, quotation, installation, and handover.
You will report directly to the Design/Drafting Lead and collaborate closely with the Major and Minor Works Project Managers, Service Manager, and Defects Estimator. All your work will be reviewed and approved before being issued for construction or submitted to authorities, certifiers, or clients.
We partner with an Australian fire protection firm serving government, health, education, aged care, commercial, and remote resources clients across the Northern Territory, South Australia, and far north Western Australia. Their services cover system design, installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and defect rectification.
Your Key Tasks: Drafting & Design Compliance
- Develop fire protection drawings layouts, schematics, riser and valve diagrams, sections, and details — based on the Lead’s instructions
- Ensure all drawings conform to Australian Standards, the NCC, and project requirements
- Prepare block plans for fire indicator panels, valve sets, and hydrant boosters — for new installations and to update outdated records
- Create as‑built drawings from site notes and technician feedback, ready for handover and operation/maintenance manuals
- Assemble submission packages and revise drawings in line with feedback from clients and authorities
- Cross-check designs against architectural, structural, and other engineering plans; flag any conflicts or gaps to the Lead
BIM & Revit Modelling
- Build and maintain Revit models meeting the level of detail specified in each project’s BIM plan or contractor requirements
- Perform clash detection using Navisworks or other project tools; coordinate and document resolutions
- Attend design coordination meetings with contractors, BIM managers, and other trades as needed
- Upload models and drawings to the project’s shared data platform (e.g. Autodesk Construction Cloud, Aconex)
Tender, Design & Project Support
- Assist the Lead with hydraulic calculations by preparing models and inputs in specialist design software
- Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions, ceiling heights, obstructions, and access — document findings with photos and notes
- Compile equipment schedules and material take-offs from drawings
- Prepare preliminary sketches and concept layouts for proposals and tenders
- Extract quantities from tender drawings for estimating and project planning purposes
- Draft sketches and mark‑ups for design changes, defect rectification quotes, and small-scale works
Records & Document Management
- Keep an updated drawing register with strict version control, standard title blocks, and transmittal records
- Maintain consistent file naming and organisation following company policy
- Track deliverables and ensure all submission packages are complete and issued on schedule
What We’re Looking For
- Practical experience in drafting or building design building services, mechanical, architectural, or a related field
- Advanced competency in AutoCAD and Revit, with hands‑on experience modelling fire protection systems
- Working knowledge of the NCC and Australian Standards
- Understanding of technical drawing conventions under the AS 1100 series
- Excellent English communication skills both spoken and written
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel, Outlook, Planner, Teams, and SharePoint
- Familiarity with Navisworks, Bluebeam Revu, and common data environments (Autodesk Construction Cloud, Aconex) is advantageous but not mandatory
- Previous experience drafting fire systems or using design software such as AutoSPRINK, HydraCAD, or SprinkCAD is a strong plus
