Job description

About Kumu

Kumu is a social entertainment platform built around live streaming, communities, and authentic human connection. Behind every stream, creator, gift, and growing community is a business that needs a strong financial foundation.

That's where you come in.

We're looking for a Jr. Accountant to join our Finance team and help keep our day-to-day accounting accurate, organized, and on track. You'll work closely with the Finance team across transaction processing, reconciliations, month-end closing, statutory compliance, and financial reporting.

This is a great role for someone early in their accounting career who wants more than just repetitive bookkeeping. At Kumu, you'll get exposure to how the Finance function supports a fast-moving digital business—and you'll have room to learn, take ownership, and grow.

What you'll do
Keep the books in order
  • Record and maintain accurate accounting transactions and journal entries.
  • Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, employee reimbursements, and other day-to-day accounting activities.
  • Review transactions and supporting documents for completeness, accuracy, and proper account classification.
  • Maintain organized financial records and documentation.
Help us close the books
  • Support the monthly and year-end closing process.
  • Prepare accounting schedules and supporting documentation for month-end close.
  • Perform regular bank and account reconciliations.
  • Assist in monitoring balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with the Finance team on necessary adjustments and follow-ups.
Keep us compliant
  • Assist in preparing documentation and schedules for Philippine tax and statutory requirements.
  • Support timely filing and payment of tax and other government obligations.
  • Maintain records required for audits and compliance reviews.
  • Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax agents, and government agencies when needed.
Make Finance better
  • Work with the Finance Operational Analyst and other Finance team members to keep financial data accurate and useful for reporting.
  • Help identify recurring issues, process gaps, and opportunities to make our finance processes simpler and more efficient.
  • Support finance projects, reporting requirements, and process improvements as Kumu continues to grow.
Be a Finance team player
  • Provide support to other members of the Finance team when needed.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve accounting-related questions and discrepancies.
  • Take on other accounting and finance-related responsibilities as the business evolves.
What we're looking for
  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience; fresh graduates with strong relevant internship experience may also be considered.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping.
  • Prior exposure to external audits.
  • Working knowledge of Philippine taxation and statutory requirements.
  • Experience or exposure to accounts payable and/or accounts receivable.
  • Comfortable working with Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, or similar spreadsheet tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and recurring deadlines.
  • Organized, dependable, and comfortable working with minimal supervision.
  • Willing to ask questions, learn, and take ownership of your work.
Nice to have
  • Experience with NetSuite or another accounting/ERP system.
  • Experience in a startup, technology, or fast-growing company.
  • Experience supporting month-end closing.
  • Exposure to audits and financial reporting.
  • Interest in improving processes and finding better ways to work.
Grow with us

This role is designed to give you a strong foundation across accounting and finance operations. You'll gain hands-on experience in transaction processing, reconciliations, month-end close, statutory compliance, reporting, and finance process improvement.

As you grow, so can your responsibilities—with opportunities to progress toward roles such as Accountant, General Accountant, or Senior Accountant.

At Kumu, we're not just looking for someone to maintain the books.

We're looking for someone who wants to grow with the business and help us build a better Finance function along the way.
