Job summary

NCS Philippines is seeking a Java Developer (Mid to Senior) in Makati City to join our development team. You will design, develop, and maintain Java applications and mentor junior developers.

You will collaborate with architects, analysts, and QA, participate in the full software development lifecycle, and contribute to architectural decisions for scalable, maintainable codebases. We offer growth opportunities, training, and a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional Java development experience building scalable enterprise applications.
• Proficiency in Java with Spring, Spring Boot, and Hibernate.
• Strong understanding of OOP, design patterns, and SOLID principles.
• Experience with SQL databases, data modelling, and optimisation.
• Version control with Git; RESTful API development and microservices.
• Experience with unit testing and TDD practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent communication.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/SE/IT or equivalent; relevant work experience.
• Preferred: cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), Docker/Kubernetes, DevOps; Agile experience.

About the role:

We are seeking a Java Developer (Mid to Senior) to join our development team in Makati City, Metro Manila. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects whilst advancing your career in software development. In this role, you will take on greater technical responsibilities, mentor junior developers, and play a key part in the architectural decisions for our Java-based applications. You will work on complex systems that require strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to clean, maintainable code.

Key responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain robust Java applications and services using industry best practices
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including architects, business analysts, and quality assurance specialists to deliver high-quality software solutions
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices
• Mentor and guide junior developers in the team, fostering their technical growth and development
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design through to implementation, testing, and deployment
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, optimising application performance and reliabilityContribute to architectural discussions and propose technical solutions for complex problems
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending improvements to our development processes and tools

What we’re looking for:

• 4+ years of professional experience in Java development with demonstrated expertise in building scalable enterprise applications
• Strong proficiency in Java, including knowledge of frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, and Hibernate
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, and SOLID principles
• Experience with relational databases (SQL) and familiarity with database design and optimisation
• Proficiency with version control systems, preferably Git
• Familiarity with RESTful API development and microservices architecture
• Experience with unit testing frameworks and test-driven development practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• Preferred: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), or DevOps practices
• Preferred: Exposure to Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile teams
