Job summary

Pax Asia Information Corporation in the Philippines seeks an IT Server Engineer to maintain and optimize the server infrastructure for the iSlot studio. Qualifications

  • 5+ years in server administration or infrastructure engineering, senior level is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and VPNs.
  • Deep Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu) and Windows Server experience.
  • Hands-on virtualization and cloud experience (VMware/Hyper‑V, AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation.

JOB OVERVIEW:

As an IT Server Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing the server infrastructure within the iSlot machine studio. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the availability, performance, and security of server systems and applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deploy, configure, and troubleshoot servers, as well as proactively monitor and address any issues that arise. Your technical expertise in server and SAN storage administration and strong problem-solving skills will contribute to a stable and efficient IT environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Atleast 5+ years in server administration or infrastructure engineering (Senior SysAdmin background is a huge plus).
  • Solid understanding of core networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and VPNs).
  • Deep, production-level expertise in both Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu) and Windows Server environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper‑V) and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Proficiency in automation and scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash to streamline infrastructure tasks.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Server Deployment and Configuration:
    • Deploy new servers based on business requirements, including hardware installation, operating system installation, and configuration of server applications.
    • Configure server hardware, firmware, and BIOS settings to optimize performance and ensure compatibility with software and applications.
    • Install and configure server operating systems, ensuring proper security controls and patches.
  2. Server Administration and Maintenance:
    • Perform routine server administration tasks, such as user management, file system management, and performance monitoring.
    • Conduct regular server maintenance activities, including patch management, firmware updates, and system backups.
    • Monitor server logs and system health to identify and resolve issues proactively.
  3. Server Security and Compliance:
    • Implement and maintain server security measures, including access controls, firewall configurations, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
    • Apply security patches and updates to servers to address vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with security standards.
    • Conduct periodic security audits and assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
  4. Server Performance Monitoring and Optimization:
    • Monitor server performance metrics, such as CPU utilization, memory usage, and disk I/O, and take proactive measures to optimize performance.
    • Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize server configurations, including tuning operating system settings and application parameters.
    • Collaborate with other IT teams to optimize server resource allocation and capacity planning.
  5. Server Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
    • Respond to server-related incidents and service requests, troubleshoot issues, and resolve problems in a timely manner.
    • Conduct root cause analysis of server-related issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff or vendors for further investigation and resolution.
  6. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
    • Contribute to the knowledge base by documenting best practices, solutions, and lessons learned.
    • Share knowledge and provide technical guidance to team members and other IT staff.
  7. Server Backup and Disaster Recovery:
    • Implement and manage server backup and disaster recovery solutions, ensuring regular backups and testing of recovery procedures.
    • Monitor backup processes to ensure successful completion and data integrity.
    • Participate in disaster recovery drills and exercises to validate the effectiveness of recovery plans.
  8. Vendor Management and Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with server vendors and service providers to procure and maintain server hardware, software licenses, and support contracts.
    • Communicate and coordinate with vendors for troubleshooting and issue resolution.
