Job summary

Manulife IT Delivery Center Asia Inc. is seeking a project manager to define and manage scope, strategy and requirements with clients. You will ensure projects stay within budgets and schedules while meeting client objectives and managing risks with clear, consistent communication.

You will lead resource planning, negotiate terms with vendors, and escalate issues to keep projects on track across multiple small to medium initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Ability to think strategically and decide on short- and long-term actions.
  • Experience with project planning and tracking tools.
  • Ability to apply project management methodologies effectively.
  • Knowledge of technology platforms and environments.
  • Good understanding of annuity products, admin compliance and MS Office.
  • Experience with a defined PM and/or SDLC methodology.
  • Familiarity with Managed Service Provider ticketing/alert systems.

  • Identify, analyze, mitigate, document and control project risks.
  • Provide regular communication among project team, stakeholders and sponsors.
  • Identify resource needs and set roles, expectations and goals with the team.
  • Negotiate contract terms and ensure compliance for consultants and vendors.
  • Identify issues affecting delivery and escalate as needed.
  • Set and track milestones, adjust schedules for unforeseen delays as required.
  • Manage multiple small/medium projects to deliver on time, budget and quality.

Position Responsibilities
  • Works with clients to define and manage the scope, strategy, requirements and implementation of projects.
  • Ensures that assigned projects are completed within budgets and schedules while meeting client business objectives.
  • Identifies, analyzes, mitigates, documents, and controls project risks.
  • Provides effective and regular communication within the project team, stakeholders, sponsors and management.
  • Identifies resourcing needs for the project and establishes roles, expectations, and goals with team members.
  • Participates in negotiation of contract terms and conditions and ensures compliance with contract terms for project consultants and vendors.
  • Identifies project issues that impact project delivery and escalates to management.
  • Sets and tracks project milestones; manages and accounts for unforeseen delays, then realigns schedules and expectations as needed.
  • Manages multiple small and/or medium-sized projects ensuring project deliverables are brought in on time, within budget and quality targets.
  • Assists in hiring project staff, and developing, motivating, coaching, advising and managing the project team.
  • Manages the technical components of the project or acts as the manager of personnel, including evaluating personnel.
  • Liaises between project team, project sponsor, and client group.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with relevant client stakeholders, providing day-to-day contact on project status and changes.
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to think strategically, assess alternatives for short-and long-term impacts and act decisively
  • Experience working with project planning and tracking tools
  • Ability to effectively apply project management methodologies and ensure that the necessary technical skills are included with the project team and utilized appropriately
  • Some knowledge of technology platforms and environments
  • Good understanding of annuity products, administration compliance, operations and systems including business desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Office), and relevant financial products
  • Experience using a defined project management and/or SDLC methodology
  • Understanding of Managed Service Provider ticketing and Alert Management Systems
