Job summary

Coronis Health Philippines is seeking an experienced Inpatient Coder to translate patient records into ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for hospital stays. The role emphasizes accuracy, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with clinicians.

Applicants should have at least 3 years of inpatient coding experience; strong medical terminology knowledge is required. A 90k sign-on bonus and WFH setup are offered to support a smooth onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing patient records and medical charts to extract diagnoses, procedures and treatments.

• Ensure coding complies with CMS, JCAHO and other regulations.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and other staff for documentation clarity.
• Assist in auditing coding for quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Reviewing Medical Records: Inpatient Coders analyze patients’ charts and medical records to gather relevant information regarding diagnoses, procedures, and treatments.
• Assigning Codes: They utilize coding systems such as ICD-10-CM (for diagnoses) and CPT/HCPCS (for procedures) to assign accurate codes to services provided during a patient’s hospital stay.
• Ensuring Compliance: Inpatient Coders ensure that coding practices adhere to legal and regulatory standards, including guidelines from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and The Joint Commission.
• Communicating with Healthcare Professionals: They often collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare personnel to clarify information and receive additional documentation if needed.
• Auditing and Quality Control: Some Inpatient Coders may be involved in auditing the coding for quality assurance, ensuring that the codes reflect the documentation accurately and are compliant with policies.
• Staying Informed: They must stay updated with coding guidelines, medical terminology, and advancements in healthcare regulations.
