Job summary

PM Consulting seeks an experienced Medical Coder – Inpatient DRG (IPDRG) to review inpatient records and assign accurate MS-DRGs/APR DRGs. You will work with physicians and CDS to query missing documentation and ensure compliant, precise code assignment.

The role requires 2+ years of Inpatient DRG coding, CCS or CIC certification (CDIP acceptable), and a BS Allied Health degree (RN/USRN/PHRN, Master’s preferred). Proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS and EMR systems (Epic/Cerner/Meditech) is essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years Inpatient DRG coding experience.
• Certification as CCS or CIC (CDIP acceptable).
• BS Allied Health degree; RN/USRN/PHRN preferred, Master’s.
• Proficient knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, MS-DRG/APR DRG, SOI/ROM, HAC/PSI.
• Experience with Epic/Cerner/Meditech and encoder tools.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient records for clinical validation and accurate coding.
• Collaborate with physicians and CDS on compliant queries.
• Resolve documentation gaps to improve accuracy and reimbursement.
• Support denial prevention and revenue integrity with HIM and billing teams.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and ethical coding practices.
