Job summary

Hammerjack Pty Ltd is seeking an IT Operations Engineer to maintain the reliability, security, and performance of our IT systems across on-premises and cloud environments. You will resolve technical challenges with growing autonomy and support the stability of business-critical systems.

You will monitor, manage, and improve core infrastructure, collaborate with Product, Cloud Engineering, and Support teams, and contribute to automation and documentation to drive operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with IT infrastructure and operations.
• Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
• Familiarity with virtualization, backups, and monitoring tools.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Infrastructure & System Management: Monitor, administer, and maintain on-premises and cloud infrastructure; ensure patching, security, and compliance.
• Troubleshooting & Support: Identify and resolve issues; collaborate with teams; escalate when needed; test changes.
• Collaboration & Process Improvement: Create runbooks, document processes, and contribute to automation and knowledge sharing.

As an IT Operations Engineer, you play a critical role in maintaining the reliability, security, and performance of our IT systems. You'll manage core infrastructure components across on-premises and cloud environments, resolve technical challenges with increasing autonomy, and support the stability of businesscritical systems. This role suits someone with solid technical experience who is growing their expertise, communicates clearly across stakeholders, and actively contributes to improving operational practices

Responsibilities

Infrastructure & System Management

• Monitor, administer, and maintain Redmap's server, storage, and network infrastructure (on-premises and cloud-based).
• Ensure systems are patched, updated, and meet security and compliance standards.
• Manage user accounts, access controls, and authentication systems.
• Assist with deploying, upgrading, and decommissioning infrastructure components.
• Implement and manage backups, disaster recovery processes, and system security measures.

Troubleshooting & Support

• Proactively identify and resolve issues in systems, applications, and network services.
• Collaborate with internal teams to troubleshoot incidents and drive resolution.
• Escalate complex issues appropriately while maintaining ownership and communication.
• Test and evaluate system changes, new tools, and infrastructure improvements.

Collaboration & Process Improvement

• Work closely with Product, Cloud Engineering, and Support teams to deliver reliable services. Create and maintain technical documentation and internal runbooks.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts through automation, tooling, and shared knowledge.
• Support onboarding and mentoring of Associate-level engineers.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a system administrator or IT operations role.
• Strong understanding of operating systems, networking, and infrastructure fundamentals. Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS and Azure)
• Familiarity with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) and automation tools.
• Experience with virtualisation, backup solutions, and monitoring tools.
• Hands-on experience in the following:

1. Hands-on Intune / Endpoint Management, Microsoft 365 Administration, AWS experience
2. Experience in Terraform / Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD, Datadog, CloudWatch, or similar monitoring/observability tools and Cloud Security and Operational Resilience
