Job summary

Cardinal Health is seeking an IBMi Engineer to serve as the technical expert for the IBM i environment. You will ensure security, stability, and availability while modernizing the platform through cloud, API, and open-source integration.

You will administer IBM i partitions, manage backups and DR, perform OS upgrades, and develop automation. The role emphasizes high availability, performance optimization, and secure operations within a global enterprise.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 4 years of hands-on IBMi administration experience.
Strong experience with IBMi version 7.3 or higher.
Experience with BRMS, backups, and DR planning.
Knowledge of IBMi networking, TCP/IP, and secure connectivity.

Responsibilities

Administer, maintain, and support IBM i partitions (LPARs) on Power Systems.
Manage backups and recovery using BRMS, VTL, remote replication, and DR solutions.
Perform IBM i OS upgrades, PTFs, firmware, and lifecycle management.
Design and maintain high-availability and DR objectives and documentation.
Develop automation using CL, SQL, RPG, and related tech.
Monitor performance: CPU, memory, storage, I/O, and workloads.
Ensure security controls, audits, and TLS across IBM i services.
Lead incident root cause analysis and change planning/validation.
