Job summary

Cardinal Health, Inc. is seeking an experienced IBMi Engineer to act as the technical expert for the IBM i environment. You will ensure security, stability, performance, and availability while driving modernization through cloud, API, and open-source integrations.

You will administer IBM i partitions, manage backups and DR, and implement high-availability and efficient performance tuning. Strong collaboration with teams to meet business objectives is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 4 years of hands-on IBM i administration.
• Experience with IBM i version 7.3+.
• Strong knowledge of high-availability and disaster recovery.
• Experience with BRMS, backup strategies and DR planning.
• Understanding of IBMi networking incl. TCP/IP and secure connectivity.
• Experience supporting IBM MQ environments.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support IBM i partitions across Power Systems.
• Manage backups, DR, BRMS and remote replication.
• Perform OS upgrades, PTFs, firmware, lifecycle mgmt.
• Design high-availability solutions and document standards.
• Monitor CPU, memory, storage, and workload management.
• Identify performance improvements and tuning opportunities.
• Implement security controls, auditing, and TLS across IBM i services.
• Develop automation using CL, SQL, RPG to modernize processes.
• Lead incident and change management and on-call rotations.
