Job summary

Cardinal Health seeks an IBMi Engineer to be the technical expert for the IBMi environment, ensuring security, stability, and availability. The role drives platform modernization through cloud, API, and open‑source integration while supporting business continuity and operational excellence.

The engineer will administer IBM i partitions, manage backups and DR, optimize performance, and implement secure connectivity. Strong CL/RPG/DB2 for i skills and BRMS experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 4 years of hands‑on IBMi administration (OS/400, i5/OS).
• Experience with IBMi v7.3+ and high availability / DR.
• BRMS, backups, and disaster recovery planning experience.
• Strong IBM i networking and security knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and support IBM i partitions across Power environments.
• Manage backup, BRMS, VTL, and disaster recovery processes.
• Perform OS upgrades, PTF maintenance, and lifecycle management.
• Design and maintain high availability and architecture standards.
• Develop automation using CL, SQL, RPG, and integrate with enterprise systems.
