Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an HV/MV Engineer to lead high-voltage and medium-voltage design for power, utilities, and infrastructure projects. You will develop SLDs, layouts, protection, and control schemes, and perform power system studies.

Based in the Philippines with a hybrid work model, you will collaborate across disciplines, support procurement, and ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, and local codes while delivering safe, reliable electrical solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years in electrical design for simple cycle or combined cycle generation projects.
  • familiarity with NEC, IEEE, Philippine Electrical Codes and other standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in concept to detailed design phases and lead engineer responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop HV and MV electrical system designs for industrial and infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare SLDs, electrical layouts, substation arrangements, cable schedules, protections, and earthing designs.
  • Perform power system studies: load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, harmonics, grounding.
  • Prepare specs, datasheets, and engineering reports.
  • Support equipment selection and procurement for transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
  • Review vendor docs and provide technical evaluations and recommendations.
  • Coordinate with civil, mechanical, process, instrumentation, and control disciplines.
  • Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and value engineering.
  • Provide technical support during construction, testing, and commissioning.

As an HV/MV Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of complex power, utilities, industrial, transportation, water, energy, and infrastructure projects across the globe. You'll be part of a collaborative team of engineers and specialists, providing technical leadership and design expertise for high-voltage and medium-voltage electrical systems throughout all project phases, from feasibility and concept development through detailed design, construction support, and commissioning.

As an HV/MV Engineer, you will be responsible for developing safe, reliable, and efficient electrical power system designs while ensuring compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and client expectations. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to the successful delivery of major engineering projects by providing technical solutions that support operational excellence, sustainability, and long-term asset performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop HV and MV electrical system designs for industrial, infrastructure, utilities, energy, and mission-critical facilities
  • Prepare and review
    • Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
    • Electrical layouts
    • Substation arrangements
    • Cable schedules and routing drawings
    • Protection and control schematics
    • Earthing and lightning protection designs
  • Perform power system studies including
    • Load flow analysis
    • Short-circuit calculations
    • Protection coordination studies
    • Arc flash assessments
    • Harmonic analysis
    • Grounding studies
  • Prepare technical specifications, equipment datasheets, and engineering reports
  • Support equipment selection and procurement activities for transformers, switchgear, protection systems, and associated HV/MV equipment
  • Review vendor documentation and provide technical evaluations and recommendations
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical, process, instrumentation, and control disciplines to ensure integrated design delivery
  • Participate in client meetings, design reviews, value engineering workshops, and technical presentations
  • Provide technical support during construction, testing, commissioning, and project closeout activities
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards, codes, and client specifications.
Here's what you'll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Relevant experience in electrical engineering design with at least 5 years of experience in the electrical engineering design of simple cycle and/or combined cycle gas turbine generation projects
  • Knowledge and application of the National Electrical Code (NEC), IEEE, Philippine Electrical Codes and Philippine Distribution Code and other international codes and standards
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills
  • Experience in concept design, FEED up to detailed engineering design
  • Lead Engineer experience
  • Proficient in Revit or 2D AutoCAD
Other Highly Regarded Qualifications Include Experience With
  • Working knowledge of US codes and standards
  • Power system modeling and analysis proficiency using ETAP, SKM Power Tools or similar modeling software
  • Protection and Control, SCADA or power system automation experience
