Makati Life Nurture Medical Center Inc. is seeking a Hemodialysis Nurse to provide safe, patient-centered care to individuals undergoing dialysis, managing the full treatment cycle from assessment to post-dialysis care.

The role requires 3–5 years of hands-on experience in a Hemodialysis Unit, strong clinical skills, and a valid Philippine PRC license; BLS certification preferred. The successful candidate will work in our Manila-area facility with a focus on quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• BSN graduate with active PRC license.
• 3–5 years of experience in Hemodialysis Unit or Dialysis Center.
• Proficient in initiating, monitoring, and terminating dialysis treatments.
• Hands-on cannulation of AV fistula and AV graft; manage dialysis catheters.
• Experience in recognizing and managing dialysis-related complications and emergencies.
• Knowledge of hemodialysis machine operation, safety checks, alarms, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of infection prevention and control standards for hemodialysis care.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, emergency response, communication, and patient-care skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-hemodialysis assessment, including vital signs, weight, fluid status, vascular access assessment, and review of labs.
• Initiate, monitor, and terminate hemodialysis per physician orders and protocols.
• Cannulate AV fistula and AV graft using appropriate techniques.
• Care for AV fistulas, AV grafts, and central venous catheters.
• Monitor patients continuously and identify changes in condition.
• Recognize and manage intradialytic complications (hypotension, cramps, arrhythmias, etc.).
• Provide immediate nursing interventions and escalate emergencies to nephrologist.
• Prepare and operate hemodialysis machines and related equipment safely.
• Verify prescriptions, parameters, dialysate settings, anticoagulation orders, and patient ID before treatment.
• Respond to machine alarms and perform basic troubleshooting.

About the role

The Hemodialysis Nurse is responsible for providing safe, efficient, and patient-centered nursing care to patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment. The role requires an experienced dialysis nurse who can independently manage patients throughout the complete hemodialysis treatment cycle, including assessment, vascular access management, treatment monitoring, management of complications, and post-dialysis care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive pre-hemodialysis assessment, including vital signs, weight, fluid status, vascular access assessment, and review of relevant laboratory results.

• Prepare patients and initiate, monitor, and terminate hemodialysis treatment according to physician orders and established protocols.

• Perform AV fistula and AV graft cannulation using appropriate techniques.

• Provide appropriate care and monitoring for AV fistulas, AV grafts, and central venous catheters.

• Continuously monitor patients during treatment and promptly identify changes in clinical condition.

• Recognize and manage intradialytic complications such as hypotension, hypertension, muscle cramps, bleeding, chest pain, arrhythmias, and other adverse reactions.

• Provide immediate nursing interventions and elevate emergencies or significant changes to the attending physician or nephrologist.

• Prepare and safely operate hemodialysis machines and related equipment.

• Verify dialysis prescriptions, treatment parameters, dialysate settings, anticoagulation orders, and patient identification before treatment.

• Respond appropriately to machine alarms and perform basic troubleshooting.

About you

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) graduate.

• Registered Nurse with a valid and active Philippine PRC license.

• 3-5 years of relevant nursing experience, with substantial hands-on experience in a Hemodialysis Unit or Dialysis Center.

• Proficient in initiating, monitoring, and terminating hemodialysis treatments.

• Hands-on experience in AV fistula and AV graft cannulation and management of dialysis catheters.

• Experienced in recognizing and managing hemodialysis-related complications and emergencies.

• Knowledgeable in hemodialysis machine operation, safety checks, alarms, and basic troubleshooting.

• Knowledgeable in infection prevention and control standards for hemodialysis care.

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
