Job summary

Careers in Renewable Energy | Solar Industry seeks a Division Head, Engineering & Design to unify Solar PV, BESS/microgrid, MV/HV interconnection, and civil/structural engineering under one division. You will own technical direction, QA/QC, and standardization across diverse solar projects nationwide.

The role demands 12–15 years in engineering with 5–7 years in senior leadership, and 8+ years in Solar PV design across utility-scale and rooftop, plus BESS/microgrid expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or related Engineering; Master’s degree is an advantage.
• 12–15 years of engineering experience, including 5–7 years in senior engineering leadership.
• 8+ years of Solar PV design experience across C&I rooftop and utility-scale projects.
• 3–5 years of BESS/microgrid experience, including at least one commissioned/operational project.
• 5+ years of MV/HV grid interconnection experience with cooperatives, NGCP, and/or ERC.
• Strong knowledge of Philippine electrical, grid, building, structural, ERC/DOE, and renewable energy regulations.
• Proficiency in PV design/simulation and power-system analysis tools such as PVsyst, Helioscope, PVcase, ETAP, DIgSILENT, or PSS E.
• Strong strategic thinking, people leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and engineering judgment.
• Willingness to travel extensively to project sites nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Engineering & Design Division, setting technical direction, standards, workflows, and QA/QC across disciplines.
• Build and manage multidisciplinary teams covering Solar PV, BESS/Microgrid, grid interconnection, and civil/structural engineering.
• Oversee end-to-end Solar PV design for C&I rooftop and utility-scale projects, including system sizing, energy modeling, electrical and structural design, and compliance.
• Lead BESS and microgrid engineering, including system integration, EMS/microgrid controls, technology evaluation, and product development.
• Lead MV/HV grid interconnection engineering, studies, substations, grid applications, and coordination with cooperatives, NGCP, and ERC.
• Oversee civil and structural engineering, including geotechnical, foundations, site development, and structural compliance.
• Manage Owner’s Engineers and outsourced engineering partners, including standards, deliverable acceptance, cost, and performance.
• Support procurement, commercial proposals, PPAs/BOOT contracts, CAPEX/BOQ, technical due diligence, and engineering risk management.
• Ensure engineering standards and processes are appropriate for both C&I rooftop and utility-scale projects.

Job description

The Division Head, Engineering & Design is the senior technical authority accountable for the engineering output of the company's solar development business. The role unifies four engineering disciplines under a single division — Solar PV Engineering & Design; Battery Energy Storage (BESS) and Microgrid Integration & Products; MV/HV Grid Interconnection Engineering; and Civil & Structural Engineering — and is accountable for the technical integrity, standards compliance, bankability and delivery quality of every design the company issues.
